Survivor 50: Everyone gets paid, prize money increased

Who gets paid on the Survivor 50 cast? Everyone.

Playing in the new season will lead to some very nice paychecks.

It might surprise some fans to learn that everyone gets paid. This is something done on most reality competition shows.

The payment is an exchange for the time and television rights. And then there are the placement prizes that could be huge for some folks.

How much does the Survivor 50 cast get paid?

Everyone makes at least $35,000 on Survivor 50. That’s a nice paycheck for the castaways.

As confirmed by host Jeff Probst, the first person voted out receives $25,000.

From there, the longer a person lasts, the more money they earn from the game.

Additionally, everyone gets an extra $10,000 for attending the Live Reunion Show.

Survivor 50 marks the return of the live reunions. It serves to wrap up the season and reveal the winner.

Since it requires players to travel to California in the spring, the producers pay each player $10,000.

Even though Jenna Lewis-Dougherty was voted out on Day 3, she takes home $35,000 for the season.

Also, this makes the blow a little softer for someone like Kyle Fraser, who got medically evacuated a few days into the season.

How much does the Survivor 50 winner take home?

“With this season, there was not going to be any big appearance fees,” Jeff clarified. But he did tease the amount going to the winner.

“The prize money is slightly higher than normal, and that’s it. We were very clear when we called each player: ‘These are non-negotiable terms. You’re going to be out here for 26 days and here’s the money. This isn’t a leverage situation. If the prize money is what you’re here for, then maybe 50 is not for you. We want people who want to be here to be a part of 50,'” Jeff elaborated.

So why are they being cagey about the full number? Typically, the Survivor winner takes home a $1 million prize (before taxes). That prize was raised to $2 million for Survivor 40: Winners At War.

We think Mr. Beast’s upcoming appearance affects that number. Could it make the first-place prize even higher than $2 million total? Stay tuned!
