Gwen Stefani is out, Niall Horan is in on Season 28 of The Voice

Tonight is the Season 28 premiere of The Voice, and one of the first things viewers may notice is that Gwen Stefani isn’t there. Reba McIntyre, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé have all returned for the new season.

Michael Buble is the reigning champion as it was his singer, Adam David, who won Season 27 of The Voice. Reba is also a winner after taking the title in Season 25, which was her second season on the show after joining for Season 24.

The only current Voice coach that doesn’t have a win is Snoop Dogg, who joined for Season 26. That season, Michael won for the first time with Sofronio Vasquez.

Niall Horan has been a coach on The Voice before

Former boy bander Niall Horan is actually returning to The Voice after a short break. He made his The Voice debut in the spring of 2023 for Season 23 and returned for Season 24 that fall. Niall is a great choice for a coach because he won both of his seasons on the show.

Niall left The Voice after Season 24 due to his busy touring schedule after dropping his third album, The Show. Now, he’s back and ready to win a third time but he’s got heavy competiton as his friend, Michael, also has two wins, and Reba has one.

What is Gwen Stefani up to now?

Gwen Stefani said goodbye to The Voice again, but that doesn’t mean she’s gone forever. After all, the No Doubt alum has come and gone many times over the years and appeared in Seasons 7, 9, 12, 17, 19, 22, 24, and 26.

Her latest departure came one season after her husband, Blake Shelton, said goodbye to the show and after the release of her latest album, Bouquet. She continues to promote the album on social media, along with her line of L.A.M.B. eyewear.

Maybe, if we’re lucky, we’ll get Gwen back next season, but that would mean missing out on one of our beloved coaches for Season 28.

The Voice airs on Mondays at 8/7c on NBC.
