Some bad news about Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother: Reindeer Games was just revealed. And according to Entertainment Weekly, the spin-offs “appear to be on life support.”
This is terrible news, as many Big Brother fans had hoped CBS would roll out a new season to compete against the upcoming Winter Olympics. Instead, it sounds more like the network has lost interest in the two spin-off shows.
Celebrity Big Brother is a show that invites famous people from TV, sports, movies, and other celebrity endeavors. They would play a shortened season of Big Brother, and it typically aired in the winter, but it hasn’t aired in a few years.
As for Big Brother: Reindeer Games, the winter spin-off invited former houseguests to play in a holiday-themed season a few years back. It was much shorter, but allowed fans to reconnect with some legends from the past.
Now it seems we may not see either show for the foreseeable future, and that’s bad news for fans.
Bad news about Celebrity Big Brother and Reindeer Games
According to EW, we won’t see CBB or BBRG this winter. Dalton Ross asked executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan about it.
“It doesn’t look like it. I think it would be fantastic, but it’s just other factors beyond our control. But you can ask CBS,” Grodner told him.
A source close to the network also confirmed to them that there are no plans to air CBB or BBRG in the near future.
As for Reindeer Games ever returning, possibly in a new format, Grodner also had some thoughts.
“Oh my God, we would love it to come back. We think it deserves to be out there, whether it’s in the winter, whether it’s summer games, spring games, or, you know, Halloween Horror Games, or whatever,” the executive producer added.
So there we have it. Hopes dashed. Big Brother fans should no longer hold out hope for the spin-offs to appear during this television season. At least we can still look forward to Big Brother 28 next summer.
