Chicago P.D. returns with more new episodes this winter and spring.
NBC viewers got seven straight weeks of new content this past fall, but then the One Chicago shows began their hiatus a bit early.
Now, we can look forward to the winter premieres of the shows, which will arrive before the 2026 Winter Olympics begin.
The good news is that some upcoming episodes have already been filmed. The bad news is that they don’t debut until 2026.
When is the Chicago P.D. winter premiere?
NBC announced that the Chicago P.D. winter premiere will air on Wednesday, January 7. It will follow new episodes of Chicago Med and Chicago Fire that evening.
It is expected that many new Chicago P.D. episodes will drop in January (possibly every Wednesday) since the 2026 Winter Olympics will envelop primetime programming in February.
Early footage from the Chicago P.D. winter premiere
Below is a trailer for the next new episode. It is slated as Chicago P.D. Season 13, Episode 8.
The primary plot points have already been revealed, as this is a continuation of the fall finale.
As a reminder, the fall finale served as a call back to the fourth episode of the season. In that earlier episode, a string of violent robberies happened across the city, and it ended up revealing secrets about an upper-class family. The episode closed with Hank Voight (played by Jason Beghe) worried about a young girl who is possibly living in an unsafe environment.
During the fall finale, Voight and the Intelligence team are brought back to that same house, as someone dies close to the residence. Is the father of the suspect from earlier in the season also harming his daughter? New team member Eva Imani (played by Arienne Mandi) fears for the girl and breaks into their house, but the episode fades to black when she hears a sound.
The January 7 winter premiere picks up from the “to be continued” point of the fall finale. Intelligence is now searching for a missing girl. Has Imani crossed a line with no return? Or has she become the perfect protege for Voight as the show rolls on?
More news from the One Chicago shows
Footage from the Chicago Fire winter premiere is intense. Is an important character about to die?
A Chicago P.D. star has quietly left the show. The producers and writers had to scramble to figure out how the season would progress.
Chicago Med almost killed off a main character. That shocking potential exit was before the actor became a primary part of the show.
