Survivor 50 is shaking things up with a new Immunity Idol. And it could lead to some exciting gameplay later on.
This season, the producers introduced the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol. It’s a way to tie a pop culture idol into the show. And it’s working.
We don’t yet know how the theme will play out, but it has introduced a new wrinkle to the game.
As a reminder, these Boomerang Idols work differently from regular Hidden Immunity Idols.
The finder of a Boomerang Idol must send it to someone from another tribe. If that other person gets voted out with the Idol, it then reverts to its original owner.
A new twist was born. Do you send the Immunity Idol to someone who needs protection? Or do you send it to someone you hope gets voted out soon?
Who found the Billie Eilish Idols, and where are they now?
Genevieve Mushaluk and Christian Hubicki each found a Billie Eilish Idol. It put them in early power positions, and they shared that information with others, despite the risks.
Genevieve sent her Idol to Ozzy Lusth.
Christian sent his Idol to Aubry Bracco.
Things got messy following the Tribe Swap in Episode 3. That included Emily Flippen telling anyone who would listen about Aubry having an Immunity Idol.
Oh, how we missed the direct way that Emily plays the game. It was because of Emily that an alliance was able to get out Q Burdette on Day 8. And he never saw it coming.
Moving forward, Ozzy and Aubry each have Individual Immunity Idols. They can use those Idols to save themselves or share them with others to protect them.
Genevieve and Christian may never get them back, especially if Ozzy and Aubry suspect they have become targets.
A third Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol is still out there. But maybe the producers held back the footage? It would be shocking if a hidden Idol were still hiding at one camp after eight days.
We at Tea on TV are starting to suspect a third Immunity Idol has been found but not yet revealed in the episodes. Stay tuned to find out if we are correct.
