The Big Brother producers have some surprises for Episode 1,000. And that includes the “biggest twist of the summer,” it seems.
The big day arrives on Thursday, August 27, with a two-hour presentation on CBS.
Reaching the 1,000th episode of the series is extremely impressive, and there are no signs of the show slowing down.
This summer, the producers introduced a twist that features three reality TV icons. Not every fan agrees with the use of the term “icons” here, though.
Still, having two Survivor legends on Big Brother has added some new flavor. And we can tell that host Julie Chen Moonves wants the other houseguests to stand up and beat them.
But first, let’s dive into what production is saying about Episode 1,000.

As a reminder, Episode 1,000 debuts at 8/7c on Thursday, August 27.
“The historic night will feature surprise appearances from former Houseguests determined by interactive fan votes and kick off the biggest twist of the summer,” teased the producers. The episode will look back at some of the most memorable moments from the show’s historic 26-year run and shift into overdrive with the BB Blockbuster and a live eviction. Details to be announced in the coming weeks.”
Executive producers Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan spoke at length about the huge achievement.
“We are thrilled and honored to be celebrating this unprecedented milestone,” they stated. “It would not have been possible without all of the hardworking and talented people behind the scenes who make up our Big Brother family. This achievement belongs to them, the hundreds of brave houseguests who have walked through the front door, our iconic host, Julie Chen Moonves, and of course, our passionate fans.”
Big Brother producers say BB28 twist has never been done before
Many Big Brother fans have guessed about what’s coming. Some have suggested a Double Eviction, bringing back a houseguest, or resetting the entire week. But the producers have confirmed that we haven’t seen this twist before on the show. That rules out a lot of things.
“This episode will launch one of the biggest twists of the summer…and it’s something that has never happened before!” the producers told TV Insider.
“It’s crazy! To hit 1000 is an incredible milestone and an incredible honor. It really speaks to the passionate and dedicated fanbase who have grown with us over the 26 years, as well as the talented, creative, and hardworking crew who spend their summers making it all happen. We owe this amazing accomplishment to all of them,” they added.
The producers also confirmed that “There will definitely be surprises” during the August 27 episode, but wouldn’t go into specifics.
We do know that the audience will feature many former houseguests. Alums are traveling in from all around the country to celebrate the big night. Will they play into the twist? It could be interesting to see a player added late in the game.
