New Chicago P.D. episodes are finally ready to debut. After a long winter hiatus, a new episode of the show will air on Wednesday, January 7.
This run of new episodes will reward fans for waiting. We saw the first seven episodes of Chicago P.D. Season 13 in the fall, with NBC rolling out more than a month of straight weeks with new content.
As a reminder, Ruzek finally returns to Chicago P.D. this spring. Officer Adam Ruzek has been missing in action from recent episodes as the actor who plays him dealt with a personal issue.
Ruzek’s absence forced the writers to adjust the show, which allowed Eva Imani to be featured more often. She plays Officer Arienne Mandi, the new member of Intelligence.
Mandi works well with team leader Hank Voight (played by Jason Beghe), filling a role previously given to Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and then Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos).

The last episode of Chicago P.D. (Impulse Control) ended on a huge cliffhanger. Intelligence was investigating a death that led them straight back to a “disturbing figure” from a past investigation. That person was Raymond Bell (Barry Del Sherman), the man whose son had been committing crimes and whose young daughter (Julie) appeared to be in danger.
“Voight and the team work together to uncover the truth of the Bell case before more lives are lost,” reads the short synopsis for the January 7 episode.
“Platt finds herself challenged when a simple favor for a former recruit spirals into something far more devastating,” reads the January 14 episode.
It will be good to see Sergeant Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) leading a new episode. She is too often placed in the background of the show.
