Chicago P.D. star finally returns to the show

Chicago P.D. Season 13 has resumed filming and some great news has come from the set.

As previously reported by Tea on TV, Officer Adam Ruzek (played by Patrick Flueger) has been missing in action. The character was just gone from the fall finale, with no explanation given by the writers.

But the story went deeper than that, because Ruzek was gone due to something the actor playing him was dealing with.

Flueger took a leave of absence from the show, with the intent for him to return once things got worked out.

At the time, Deadline stated that “the time off comes as Flueger has been going through a difficult period personally, with an instance of alcohol use on set.”

Since the One Chicago shows have been dealing with fluid casts and characters missing episodes, it was easy for the writers to adjust. But it was also unclear how long Chicago P.D. would be without Ruzek.

Some great news from the Chicago P.D. set

We are happy to reveal that Patrick Flueger has returned to the Chicago P.D. set. This means we will likely see the return of Officer Adam Ruzek in episodes later this spring.

“Happy birthday to my best friend,” captions a new Instagram Stories video shared by actress Marina Squerciati.

Squerciati plays Detective Kim Burgess on the Chicago P.D. cast, and has shared much on-screen time with Flueger. Their characters are now happily married with an adopted daughter.

Below are some images taken from that video, with Flueger smiling as members of the Chicago P.D. cast and crew help him celebrate.

Recently, Squerciati also shared a picture from a night at the opera, and Flueger was spotted with the group.

Chicago P.D. fans were quick to notice Flueger making the surprise appearance.

“Paddy looking sharp @pjflueger !!! You all look beautiful 🎶,” wrote one fan.

“Awesome photo! So happy to see Paddy ❤️❤️,” posted someone else.

“So excited to see you all! Looking forward to January shows! Hugs to you all, especially Burzek! 🤗🤗😍,” noted another fan.

It’s not clear when we could see Ruzek and Burgess teamed up again on Chicago P.D., as the next few episodes have already been filmed. But it’s great news that Flueger has already returned to the Chicago P.D. set, so we should see him this spring at the latest.
