Jessa Duggar says family is ‘pulling together to support Kendra’

Jessa Duggar issued a statement following the arrest of her brother, Joseph Duggar, earlier this week.

It is the third time the Duggar family has made headlines for crimes involving children.

Joseph’s arrest has left followers of the famous reality TV family wondering what, if anything, the siblings will say this time.

His wife, Kendra Caldwell, has been close with her in-laws, including several of the sisters, with Jessa among the closest.

Now that it has been a few days since the arrest made headlines and Joseph is scheduled for extradition to Florida, Jessa took to social media to release a quick statement.

She avoided placing any blame on her brother, but did acknowledge the victim and her faith.

Jessa Duggar releases a statement

On her Instagram Stories, Jessa Duggar issued a statement about the news surrounding her brother, Joseph Duggar.

She wrote, in part, “As a family, we are pulling together to support Kendra and her kids during this difficult time.” It seems as if she was speaking for her family as a whole, because, as yet, none of the other siblings closely tied to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have released anything.

Jessa also revealed their hearts were “grieving” for the young victim, while also wrapping her faith into the conversation.

Duggar family secrets

This is the third time the Duggar family has made headlines for something like this. However, before Joseph Duggar was arrested, the eldest son, Josh Duggar, was the focus of two other crimes involving children.

Josh inappropriately touched several of his sisters when they were teenagers. While it wasn’t handled in the press at the time, the police report taken at the time was made public. This also allowed the victims to be identified, which led to the Duggar sisters suing.

Jessa Duggar was one of the sisters, and she and Jill Duggar were the basis for Counting On. They did media rounds about what happened to them, while being encouraged to focus on downplaying it.

In 2021, Josh was found guilty on CSAM charges. The following May he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He’s been in a federal prison in Texas since June 2022.

Now, the family is going through something similar, but this time, the statute of limitations has not run out for the crime allegedly committed by Joseph. His wife, Kendra Caldwell, has not spoken out, and she may choose to remain silent as they have faded from social media in the years since TLC canceled Counting On.

Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets is currently streaming on Prime Video.
