MAFS’ Emily Balch spills on wedding day match

The idea behind Married at First Sight is that you don’t know who you’re marrying until the wedding day.

However, Emily Balch got a preview of her husband before she walked down the aisle.

The Season 17 star recently confessed that a friend showed her a photo of her then-husband-to-be after finding out she was matched with someone.

It seems the MAFS experts were counting on the “opposites attract” theory when pairing party girl Emily with straight-laced Brennan Shoykhet.

They were wrong about that!

The couple’s marital issues began during the honeymoon and worsened until they finally called it quits.

Emily Balch saw Brennan Shoykhet before they got married

Emily dished about the show while chatting with D-List Diaries hosts and former MAFS stars Gina Micheletti, Kirsten Grimes, and Nicole Lilienthal.

During the interview, she confessed to seeing a photo of her now ex-husband, Brennan, before they got married.

“My best guy friend in Chicago, after I got matched, he sent me one of his Instagram pictures, and he’s like, ‘I think this is your dude,'” confessed Emily.

She didn’t want to see the photo at first, but curiosity got the better of her.

When she eventually took a peek at Brennan’s photo, Emily was pleasantly surprised.

“I wasn’t really expecting someone actually being really good-looking,” she admitted. “I just kind of assumed it would go the other way.”

As it turns out, the experts gave the 31-year-old exactly what she asked for in terms of looks and conservative values.

Sadly, it wasn’t enough to make their marriage work.

Why did Emily sign up for MAFS?

Like most of the marriages on the show, Emily and Brennan’s crashed and burned pretty quickly.

The duo didn’t even make it to the end of the season before ending their tumultuous romance.

Despite the failure of her marriage, the blonde beauty admitted that if she hadn’t done MAFS, she would have regretted it.

“It came at a time in my life when I needed a shakeup,” confessed Emily.

“I was like, this is a better chance for me to find someone than my current dating situation…free matchmaking, like why wouldn’t I do it?”
