MAFS update: Shaquille and Kirsten– Where are they now?

The experts were on to something when they matched Shaquille Dillion with Kirsten Grimes in Season 16 of Married at First Sight.

However, something went wrong during the eight-week experiment.

Kirsten was a bit too high-maintenance for Shaquille, and the final clincher was when she demanded that he buy her a house.

The couple continued through the process, and on Decision Day, Kirsten wanted them to stay together.

Shaquille confessed that he felt alone in their marriage and that Kirsten’s expectations were too high, so he opted to get divorced.

A lot of time has passed since then, so where are the former MAFS couple today?

What happened to MAFS star Shaquille Dillon?

When MAFS Season 16 aired, Shaquille mentioned that he was paying for his degree, and after filming the show, he completed his doctorate.

He shared the good news in a 2023 Instagram post, “Introducing Dr. Shaquille K. Dillon.”

“Today, I successfully defended my dissertation at Jackson State University,” he continued. “Beyond grateful for this journey. My grandmother’s prayers are still protecting me.”

He has been making major strides as an educator, mentor, and speaker at HBCUs throughout the country and recently celebrated a 12-year milestone working in higher education.

As for his personal affairs, if Shaquille has a special lady in his life, he’s been keeping her away from social media.

Kirsten Grimes is a successful realtor

Kirsten Grimes is a successful Nashville realtor, selling million-dollar homes, much like the one she was hoping Shaquille would buy for her.

However, the Season 16 beauty can do that all on her own, as she’s been making major strides in her career.

In 2024, she shared exciting news: “I am excited to announce that I have joined Compass, the #1 Real Estate Brokerage.”

Kirsten also joined forces with her MAFS besties, Gina Micheletti and newly pregnant Nicole Thielk, for their podcast, D-List Diaries.

Kirsten is also somewhat of a Nashville socialite, and when she’s not hitting up the hotspots in her city, she’s jetting off to Miami.

Much like her ex-husband, however, the MAFS alum is still single, which makes us wonder if the exes should give their romance another shot.

Married at First Sight is currently on hiatus.
