Jeff Probst spoiled a huge moment during the Survivor 50 season finale.
It shocked viewers, fans online, and the castaways who were there for the “live” show.
Fans had begged for the return of a Live Reunion Show, and the producers teased that it would return.
But what we got on the finale night wasn’t what we expected. Rather than show the footage that got the season to its final three players, and then do the reunion, the producers meshed everything together.
Early in the episode, they went from showing gameplay to a Cirie Fields interview on the stage. It took us away from the episode and ruined the flow.
But Jeff wasn’t done ruining the flow.
Jeff Probst ruins the Fire-Making Challenge on Survivor 50
Aubry Bracco won the final Immunity Challenge and then chose Rizo Velovic and Jonathan Young to compete in the Fire-Making Challenge. Joe Hunter got a spot in the final three.
The episode then shifted back to the “live” show, where Jeff called Rizo up to the stage to chat about his gameplay. They talked about Rizo’s return after doing well on Survivor 49, and then about what happened on Survivor 50.
When they were done chatting, Jeff told Rizo to take his spot with the jury. Only that hadn’t happened on the show yet. We hadn’t even seen the Fire-Making Challenge yet. The other jury members tried to tell Jeff what happened, and the producers rushed things to a commercial break.
Jeff had spoiled the fact that Jonathan won the Fire-Making Challenge before they even showed it. When the show returned from commercials, Jeff tried to joke it off, saying it was a twist to reveal something early, but the damage was done.
They then showed the Fire-Making Challenge. Jonathan won and took a spot in the final three. Rizo was sent to the Survivor 50 jury.
Below is footage of the moment everything went wrong.
