A new Big Brother 28 episode aired Thursday night, revealing which houseguest would go home next.
This was another week where the reality TV icons were in control. Where Dee took charge in Week 1, Devens was in command during Week 2.
Devens won HOH and nominated Jason, Lyric, and Melody. Jason was one of his targets, but he had a plan in case someone won the Power of Veto.
Later, Devens won the Power of Veto himself. Then, he used it to save Lyric and place Rome on the block as the replacement nominee.
Heading into the new eviction episode on July 23, Jason, Melody, and Rome were on the block. But someone could find safety by winning the BB Blockbuster Challenge.
Big Brother 28, Episode 8 recap: More drama?
Host Julie Chen Moonves welcomed us to Day 17 of the Big Brother 2026 season.
Many Diary Room sessions followed the Veto Ceremony footage.
Deven explained how getting Rome out has been his plan all along.
Lyric called getting off the block “bittersweet” because Rome was her replacement.
Melody spoke about wanting to win the BB Blockbuster, but said she felt a bit safe against the other nominees.
Jason was very happy that Rome was on the block next to home. Indeed, Rome is more of a target than Jason.
Devens told Rome that it wasn’t “personal” about the nomination. Rome seemed happy that (at least) Lyric was safe.
Taylor told Melody she was safe. Melody also admitted it was much better with Rome on the block instead of Lyric.
Drew was cheering on Melody to “be a baller” and win her own safety at the BB Blockbuster. Drew also wanted Jason to be the next evictee.
Later, Dee and Angela expressed worry that Drew was too close with Melody.
Meanwhile, Drew and Barrett bonded further and discussed possibly keeping Rome around to cause drama because he would go after the icons.
A new BB Blockbuster Challenge
Rome, Jason, and Melody battled in a puzzle-type challenge.
Each player had four columns of pieces. The players had to move them around to organize them. The fastest one would win safety.

Jason won the BB Blockbuster and earned safety.
The Week 2 Eviction Ceremony on Big Brother 28
Melody and Rome gave arguments for why they should remain in the game. It was then time to vote.
Here is how the voting went (in order):
- Taylor voted to evict Melody.
- Jason voted to evict Rome.
- Yash voted to evict Rome.
- Dee voted to evict Rome.
- Angela voted to evict Rome.
- Barrett voted to evict Rome.
- Lyric voted to evict Rome.
- Mallory voted to evict Rome.
- Drew voted to evict Rome.
- Lala voted to evict Rome.
- Haley voted to evict Rome.
- Chuk voted to evict Rome.
- Kamu voted to evict Rome.
That’s that. Rome was evicted from the Big Brother house (12-1). Remember to keep participating in the BB28 Fan Vote.
On his way out, Rome told Lyric and the world that he loved her.
