Cortney Hendrix panicked after signing up for MAFS

It takes a brave soul to sign up to marry a stranger, and Cortney Hendrix took that bold step years ago.

Admittedly, she had no idea what she was signing up for, and as things started to take shape, she panicked.

The mom of two joined the show’s first season alongside alums Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner, who are still together today.

However, the same can’t be said for Cortney and her match, Jason Carrion.

The Season 1 couple had a good run, but after five years of marriage, they parted ways and have both remarried.

Cortney recently opened up about the MAFS process and confessed that after signing up for the eight-week experiment, she started to have second thoughts.

We missed all the behind-the-scenes drama from Season 1 of Married at First Sight.

However, during an appearance on D-List Diaries, Cortney spilled the tea while chatting with Season 16 alums Gina Micheletti and Nicole Lilienthal.

Cortney confessed that she had reservations after signing up for the show.

“I feel like I had reservations, and I was like, ‘Okay, well, I’m going to try and sabotage this,'” shared the MAFS alum. “So I dodged phone calls from production. I dodged Dr. Pepper when she came to my apartment. I didn’t let her in.”

Cortney told the duo that she had already signed the paperwork and was speaking with producers, but then she “started to panic.”

Eventually, though, she changed her mind.

MAFS was initially called The Love Experiment

Cortney spilled more tea during her chat with the MAFS duo, telling them that when she signed up for the reality show, it was something different.

Cortney thought the concept was about group dating arranged by experts; she didn’t know it involved marrying a stranger.

“No one had said this is for marriage,” shared Cortney. “It was a dating concept show, and it was just an experiment…it was called The Love Experiment.”

That name eventually changed to Married at First Sight, and despite her reservations, Cortney joined the cast.

In a nutshell, she married a stranger and stayed with him for five years before getting divorced.

The MAFS alum is now happily married with two kids.
