One Chicago hiatus: Long breaks for Chicago Med, Fire, and P.D.

Say goodbye to the One Chicago shows. The fall finales for Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. air on Wednesday, November 12.

We were all treated to seven straight weeks of brand-new episodes this fall, but that streak has come to an end. Now, the fall finales will likely each feature cliffhangers that won’t be resolved until 2026.

This is a very familiar yearly event for the shows, as there aren’t enough episodes for NBC to debut a new one each week. Instead, the network tries to space them out over the fall, winter, and spring months.

When does the One Chicago winter hiatus end?

After the November 12 episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D., no new episodes will air until 2026. That means the rest of November and December will feature alternate programming or repeat episodes of the shows on Wednesday nights.

Tea on TV expects the One Chicago winter hiatus to end early in January. It’s possible that there could be new episodes as early as the first week. That would be January 7, with the NBC schedule open to air new episodes throughout that month.

The 2026 Winter Olympics are coming

Another hiatus is also on the radar at NBC. For most of February 2026, NBC will air the Winter Olympics. That will dominate programming on the network, with competitors trying to air alternative programming against them.

During the winter downtime, fans can stream older episodes on Peacock. After that, we should get a nice run of episodes in the spring to wrap up Chicago Med Season 11, Chicago Fire Season 14, and Chicago P.D. Season 13.
