Chicago Fire’s fall finale ended on a huge cliffhanger. While Kelly Severide (played by Taylor Kinney) and Tom Van Meter (Tim Hopper) were investigating a case, an arsonist showed up and set the building on fire that they were inside.
To make matters worse, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) was out of town, so she couldn’t even respond to the soon-to-be call for help. As a reminder, there was a good reason Kidd missed the fall finale.
Already, there are online rumors that one of these characters will not survive that fire. It could be a huge shift for the show, but nothing has been confirmed, so let’s continue only calling them rumors until we hear confirmation.
The good news is that despite Chicago Fire being on hiatus, NBC has released specific information (and footage) for when the show returns with new episodes.
When does Chicago Fire return with its winter premiere?
The new Chicago Fire episode airs on Wednesday, January 7. The show remains in its 9/8c time slot on Wednesday nights this winter and spring.
Chicago Fire Season 14, Episode 8 TV promo
Below is the TV promo airing on NBC for Chicago Fire Season 14, Episode 8. Even though the episode doesn’t air until January 7, it has already been filmed.
As Severide and Van Meter are chatting with Mr. Cole (a school principal being targeted by students), the smoke detector goes off. Suddenly, the situation spirals.
When the camera pans out at the end of the trailer, we see that the building is engulfed in flames.
Who plays Mr. Cole on the Chicago Fire cast?
Mr. Cole may seem familiar because the actor who plays him has been on TV before. In fact, he has many notable IMDb credits to his name.
Terry Serpico recently starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Chief Tommy McGrath. He has also played Teal Beck on Yellowstone, Frank Sherwood on Army Wives, and Mitch Ohlmeyer on The Inspectors.
Before all that, Serpico also played Cousin Eddie on Rescue Me, another show about firefighters.
We will see Serpico again when Chicago Fire Season 14 continues this winter.
More news from the One Chicago shows
A Chicago P.D. star recently left the show. The producers and writers had to scramble to figure out how the season would progress.
Chicago Med nearly killed off a main character. That shocking potential exit was before the actor became a primary part of the show.
Tea on TV also addressed rumors of Jason Beghe leaving Chicago P.D. He plays Hank Voight, a primary character who has been on the show since the very beginning.
