Big Brother 27 alums Ashley Hollis and Mickey Lee were at odds. It was drama that stemmed from comments Mickey had made and which escalated in the post-season weeks.
Unfortunately, Mickey passed away on Christmas Day. The sad news has hit the former houseguests really hard. It also led to Ashley revealing that she had reached out to Mickey earlier in December.
The post has been met with mixed reactions from fans, and Ashley has since followed it up with an explanation of why she shared her text to Mickey.
Ashley posts that she reached out to Mickey after Big Brother 27
“My last text to Mickey. I felt called to reach out to her for some reason a few weeks ago…and I’m so glad I did,” Ashley wrote on Instagram.
In her post, Ashley shared an image of her phone, claiming to have texted Mickey on December 7.
“Hi micky it’s Ashley!” the post began. Yes, she spelled Mickey’s name wrong… something that frustrated many fans.
“I wanted to reach out to you! I didn’t really get to see you this weekend,” her text continues.
Ashley referenced a charity event that many Big Brother alums attended in Florida.
“I didn’t really wanna approach it in public with fans around and stuff! But I wanted to reach out because I honestly don’t like the way things have transpired between us and I did really care about you in the house. I don’t want beef w u and I don’t want the two black girls to be pit against each other I don’t like that! So I wanted to be the bigger person and reach out to squash the beef,” Ashley added.
Ashley later deleted her Instagram post, but she returned with an update on X.
“I posted that because y’all continue to bash me saying I never liked mickey but that’s a lie,” Ashley wrote.
Ashley also noted that, “I had nothing to gain from reaching out to her a few weeks ago, but peace of mind and a hope for rekindling. I can’t believe Mickey is really gone.”
More thoughts from Ashley about her relationship with Mickey
Ashley later made several additional posts, including one asking fans to support the GoFundMe page that Mickey’s family had shared.
“Mickey was steadfast in her faith in the Lord. She read her bible constantly. She had the best bible in the house it had amazing illustrations,” Ashley shared in another post.
The post continued, “She constantly talked about her relationship with God. I know she is covered and in his arms now.”
