Big Brother alums have fallen victim to a slew of online hoaxes about them. Misinformation is being posted on Facebook and X, with the posts intended to gain clicks by deceiving fans about the health status of former players.
Celebrities have dealt with death hoaxes for years. Now, people from Big Brother and Survivor are forced to deal with the unfortunate side of fame. As recently reported by Tea on TV, one such rumor claimed that Savannah Louie from Survivor 49 was pregnant. She isn’t, even though the fake sources claimed she publicly announced it. Her backstory makes the rumors even worse.
Following the death of Mickey Lee from Big Brother 27, deceitful Facebook pages and X accounts have begun sharing fake stories about other houseguests. Often, the articles being shared originate from countries other than the U.S., as do the newly-created accounts sharing them.
Unfortunately, many Facebook groups push these fake stories. It is worsened by fans of the show sharing the misinformation, but it’s easy to get fooled. Even a Big Brother alum was tricked into sharing information from one of those fake accounts. Some of those accounts even pretend to be the former houseguests.
Morgan Pope, Will Williams, and Katherine Woodman are doing fine
For anyone who has seen the unfortunate posts about Morgan Pope, Cliffton “Will” Williams, and Katherine Woodman, rest assured that they are doing fine. The trio all appeared on Big Brother 27, with Morgan finishing in third place. Each of them has had fake stories posted over the past week. There is also one about Jimmy Heagerty.
It’s unfortunate that anyone ever has to deal with this. It’s equally disgusting that people are trying to take advantage of the alums and the fandom so soon after losing Mickey Lee. We are all still reeling from her passing.
To see what these fake stories look like, check out the social media post below. It highlights a series of recent online stories. Each of them features someone from Big Brother 27. Hopefully, readers will see through these people and stop clicking on their links. Otherwise, the problem will continue.
