America Lopez gets warning from Johnny Bananas in The Challenge 41 teaser

The Challenge: Vets & New Threats is coming to MTV and features a plethora of reality TV rookies participating in the reality competition for the first time.

Among them are stars from shows such as Are You the One?, Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Married at First Sight.

It wouldn’t be complete without some Big Brother representatives. They’ll include Cedric Hodges, Blue Kim, and America Lopez.

There’s always a learning curve when it comes to The Challenge, due to the strategic aspect of voting for castmates to go to elimination and staying safe in the game.

With Season 41, the rookies will have the help of some of the show’s all-time greats, also known as veterans, including show winners Cara Maria Sorbello, Chris “CT” Tamburello, Aviv Melmed, and Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio.

As new promotional content arrives, fans get to hear from new and returning cast members, as well as see glimpses of additional footage.

Bananas advises Season 41 rookies in teaser

A brand-new clip has arrived featuring MTV’s veteran competitors who will appear in The Challenge: Vets & New Threats. Many of the vets are warning rookies about one cast member, who also hands out a warning to a few of the newcomers.

From the start, seven-time winner Johnny Bananas jokingly advises people to stay far away from castmate CT.

“CT’s shoes, I think, are outlawed by the Geneva convention for like cruel and unusual punishment,” Bananas quips in a confessional interview.

“If you think you can trust your closest ally, you have another thing coming,” returning star Olivia Kaiser shares.

“Trust no one,” Nany Gonzalez says, with Aneesa Ferreira sharing similar sentiments.

A Season 41 clip shows Aneesa on camera shouting at someone who sounds like Nany off camera.

“Well then, she lied to you!” Aneesa says, with the other voice replying, “Well then, she lied to you.”

Cara Maria and Derek Chavez both suggest rookies shouldn’t listen to Bananas because he’s “using” or trying to “manipulate” them to do what he wants for his game.

It’s then that we get another brief clip from Season 41 featuring Bananas outside of the house talking to two of the rookies.

“That’s how this game has gone for 41 seasons. You’re not gonna break that trend,” he tells America and another rookie, Justin Hinsley from Netflix’s Cheer.

The best guess is that this has to do with their votes for elimination or trying to form an alliance behind the scenes. Bananas typically tries to sway things with most of his castmates in his favor, so it should be interesting to see if these rookies follow suit!

Turbo throws out another “Don’t trust Bananas” remark, and CT reminds rookies, “Don’t come in too hot” for The Challenge.

Who is America Lopez on The Challenge 41?

As mentioned, America is one of several Big Brother stars on The Challenge: Vets & New Threats. The 25-year-old from Edinburg, Texas, first appeared in Big Brother 25.

During her season, which aired on CBS from August to November 2023, she was one of two contestants evicted in Week 12, along with Blue Kim, who is now her castmate on The Challenge.

Another promotional video arrived last week featuring the rookies, with America featured at the start. She immediately declared her fandom for MTV’s competition series.

She boldly claims she has watched more of The Challenge than all the cast members combined.

She advanced pretty far into her Big Brother season, but this is a whole different level of competition.

The various puzzles and games on the CBS competition don’t always translate well to competing on MTV’s show. There are some physical aspects, including strength, endurance, and agility, that don’t come into play much at all on BB.

Although Big Brother has competitors stuck in a house with other houseguests, it tends to enhance these players’ abilities to strategize in MTV’s competition.

With that in mind, she might be “coming in hot,” which is what CT advised rookies against. However, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen newcomers on The Challenge trying to take down the veteran system!

Luckily for the rookies, they’ll each pair up with a vet as a teammate when they compete in the daily challenges. However, the partners will switch up based on what we’ve seen in the first Season 41 trailer.

The Challenge: Vets & New Threats premieres Wednesday, August 30 at 8/7c on MTV.
