Big Brother 27 will have ‘most original hours’ in years: Here’s why

The Big Brother 27 producers are celebrating the silver anniversary with a treat for viewers.

As many fans have already noticed, CBS is offering extended episodes of Big Brother 27.

This additional coverage will let fans see even more of what the houseguests are up to each day.

This will be the most coverage provided since the inaugural season back in 2000.

Additional coverage for Big Brother 27

Paramount+ released a new press release highlighting what the show is doing to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

“To commemorate Big Brother’s silver anniversary, Big Brother Season 27 will offer up the most original hours of programming since the show’s series premiere season back in 2000,” Paramount+ has stated.

“This means more Big Brother action per week, more twists and turns per episode, and – perhaps most exciting – an expanded Big Brother universe, namely in the form of Big Brother: Unlocked, a new show to be hosted by three (as yet unnamed) Big Brother fan favorites,” they added.

It all begins with the 90-minute premiere on Thursday, July 10. CBS continues that trend with 90-minute episodes on Sunday, July 13, and Wednesday, July 16. It’s a great way to get people interested in the new theme and the BB27 cast.

After that first week, Wednesday night episodes will remain at 90 minutes. Beginning on July 25, there will be Friday night content every other week. Sunday and Thursday episodes will also return to their original 60-minute format.

Here are details on Big Brother: Unlocked.

Will additional Big Brother coverage lead to a better season?

Many Big Brother fans were frustrated with the Artificial Intelligence theme used last summer. It took away some of the enjoyment viewers had with the BB26 cast. Simply moving away from the AI theme could win back some viewers.

But it’s also essential for the show not to let the theme overshadow its players. Viewers want players who can surface as Competition Beasts or villains who will carry the show. Look no further than the fan-favorites from last season to see that: Tucker Des Lauriers and Angela Murray.

Tucker excelled at challenges, and Angela was eager to stir up drama. They each brought something different to the game, but they kept it interesting. Some fans detested Angela for how she treated Matt Hardeman, but others loved that she helped create excitement.

Are you excited about the additional footage being provided from Big Brother this summer? What do you hope to see from the theme and the BB27 cast when CBS and the producers roll out the season?
