A new episode of Big Brother 28 aired on Wednesday night, giving us the first Veto Competition of the summer.
As a reminder, Dee Valladares is the Week 1 Head of Household. The Survivor winner went to work on making alliances, but also had to put people on the block.
Dee nominated Mallory Aurichio, Taylor Brown, and Yash Patel for eviction. Yes, three nominees. This sets up the BB Blockbuster on Thursday nights.
One of the nominees could save themselves from the block if they won the Power of Veto.
Big Brother 28, Episode 4 recap
A new episode of Big Brother 28 aired on Wednesday, July 15. Counting the premiere of Big Brother: Unlocked, this was the fourth episode of the summer.
The new episode picked up following the Nomination Ceremony. Yash, Taylor, and Mallory each had segments reacting to the news.
Dee also had a segment, while claiming she just wanted to nominate one person from each HOH Competition team. She also spoke about the target on herself.
Yash called it “a boneheaded move” after he helped her win HOH. She previously told him he was safe, so he didn’t like it.
Taylor spoke about keeping it cool, calm, and focused. She also mentioned wanting to win the Power of Veto.
Mallory was in tears. Lyric tried to talk her up. Dee later hugged her, but Mallory said she was too flustered to talk about it.
Kamu spoke about how he felt Dee should not have nominated Yash. It’s something he mentioned previously, as it showed Dee would break her word.
Drew tried to calm Mallory down by telling her not to throw names around. Melody agreed with that sentiment.
Later, Dee, Devens, and Angela danced in the HOH Room.
Losing track of the names? Below is a video of the houseguests with their faces.

Dee sat down with Taylor and said she wanted to work with her. Taylor seemed good, but knew she needed to play hard for the Power of Veto.
Mallory’s breakdowns continued, leading to some emotional outbursts and more tears in the Diary Room. Eventually, she went to chat with Dee. Mallory cried some more, saying she doesn’t want to be the first person evicted. Dee told Mallory she didn’t want her to go home. Dee also revealed that she wanted Yash to go home.
In a Diary Room session, Dee said she was being honest. She wanted Yash out, but Mallory was her backup target.
Melody and Lyric tried to distance themselves from Mallory. Dee didn’t think they were being honest with her about it.
Melody struck up a good friendship with Drew, and they cemented an alliance. Or did they?
The Rome and Lyric showmance continues. They were shown sneaking around the house to find time together.
Rome and Lyric are officially a couple in the other players’ minds. They even had brief chats about whether or not their relationship would work in the real world. No conclusion was reached.
Meanwhile, after hanging out in the Head of Household Bathtub, Angela broke the tub when she stood up.
Getting ready for the first BB28 Veto Competition
When it came time to pick players for the Veto Competition, Dee drew Barrett’s chip. Later, she drew Melody’s chip.
Barrett, Melody, Dee, Taylor, Mallory, and Yash would play for the Power of Veto.
Barrett told Mallory he would save her if he won. But he later told the camera he didn’t want to save anyone.
Melody came clean to Mallory that she might not use the POV to save her due to the risk. Mallory didn’t take it well.
Yash told Dee he felt blindsided about being on the block after he helped her win HOH. She claims she doesn’t remember saying that.
Who won the Big Brother 28 Veto Competition?
Barrett, Dee, Mallory, Melody, Taylor, and Yash were recruited for the Veto Competition.
Former houseguests Howie Gordon and Dr. Will Kirby (from Big Brother: All-Stars) were part of the comp.
Yes, things got pretty silly.
The challenge had them retrieve the Time Machine that Dr. Will Kirby stole. Howie led the six players through it, with each having to complete a maze of pipes connecting two sides of a course. The first one done would win the POV.
Dee saw Mallory and Yash doing well and commented that it was her nightmare. Her two targets were close to securing their safety.
Mallory won the Power of Veto.
This is exactly the type of drama that the show needed. Forcing the first HOH to nominate a fourth person can lead to some TV gold.
Later, Jason, Drew, and Melody joined forces. They are The Court Jesters.
Jason was shown acting sad to get Angela to console him. He pretended to really bond with her on a personal level, and then side-eyed the camera after she left the room. Then he spoke in the Diary Room about targeting the three icons (Dee, Devens, and Angela). Of course, Drew is also working with the Crossovers (Angela, Barrett, Dee, Devens, and Drew), so Jason was telling the wrong people. Drew went to Dee with the info.
When the info got back to Angela, she had a meltdown. There were lots of tears in the Diary Room. She spoke about being “heartbroken” about Jason manipulating her.
The Veto Ceremony and the final BB28 nominees for Week 1
Mallory used the Power of Veto to save herself.
Dee named Ashley Trail the replacement nominee.
The final nominees for the week are Ashley, Taylor, and Yash. One of them goes home during the upcoming eviction episode.
