Big Brother 29 has already been ordered. The new season will air on CBS during Summer 2027.
Yes, that’s a long way off. But it’s never too early to dive into the rumors.
Survivor legend Rick Devens recently won Big Brother 28. He beat out two other “icons” to do it.
With more viewers tuning in for BB28, it has raised some obvious questions.
One question is whether reality TV icons will return on BB29.
Producers talk about Big Brother 29 rumors
“The truth is, it’s been a success,” BB executive producer Allison Grodner said about having the icons on BB28.
As a reminder, the season featured Devens from Survivor, Dee Valladares, and BB alum Angela Murray.
BB27 featured BB13 winner Rachel Reilly, and BB25 featured Survivor legend Cirie Fields.
“It’s been really, really fun to watch. It certainly helped jump-start the conversation of the summer to have it. So it’s been successful,” she added to Entertainment Weekly.
Of course, she was asked if the icon theme will repeat on BB29.
“Does it mean that it’s gonna happen every time?” she told Dalton Ross. “I don’t know. I think it just depends on the creative of that season. But there’s no doubt that it’s been a positive.”
Fellow executive producer Rich Meehan added more insight.
He wants to keep the show unpredictable. He doesn’t want people to assume that reality TV icons will pop up every summer.
When will they know the direction of Big Brother 29?
“When we start usually developing the creative in February is when we usually start diving in for the summertime,” Meehan told EW. “And then that’s when we’ll start getting ideas of: Does it make sense to bring somebody back? Does it make sense to bring more than one person back?”
So there you have it. We give it a definite maybe that we could see familiar faces next summer. But it also might make sense to try something new.
What do you want the Big Brother 29 cast to look like?
