Last night on The Voice Season 28 premiere, Ryan Mitchell sang his heart out, but it wasn’t enough to turn a chair. After the fact, the judges complained that they “should have” hit that button, but just didn’t because Ryan’s song, Cigarette Daydreams by Cage the Elephant, didn’t show off his range enough.
Thankfully, or thanks to Carson Daly, Ryan got a second chance. After Carson gave him the “Carson Callback,” Ryan came back for night two of the blind auditions and picked a song that he could play around with, showcasing his rock star capabilities.
Ryan sang Britney Spears’ “Hit Me One More Time,” which was enough to get Reba McIntyre to hit her button. As Carson reminded Ryan, it only takes one chair turn, and he welcomed him to the show.
The Voice fans praise Ryan as he gets second chance
There are a lot of questions about the Carson Callback since it’s the first time we’ve ever seen it. One viewer wanted to know if we”ll be seeing another one next week when they wrote, “Are we getting the Carson callback in the first episode next week???”
Regardless of how many times we’ll see the Carson Callback this season, fans are in favor with one calling it “iconic” and another sharing that Carson has been on the show for years and deserves to have a say.
“Ryan was so good, so happy he’s getting another chance,” One The Voice viewer wrote.
Another predicted that Niall Horan may be the one to turn his chair. That’s not what happened, but perhaps Ryan should have sung this song.
After Ryan’s second audition, a viewer gushed, “Ryan Mitchell 2nd chance audition, he switched up the song choice, did a cool arrangement, dug into the lyrics with dram and grit. Had the coaches singing along. This showed a lot more range & dynamics. Gave him a chance to really dig in.”
Now that he’s managed to make it back on the show, how far do you think Ryan Mitchell will get? Is he going to win Season 28 of The Voice?
The Voice airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
