Two-time The Challenge winner Cara Maria Sorbello is the latest star from MTV’s show to call out her castmate CT Tamburello’s critics.
Viewers saw Cara return for a full season of The Challenge on Season 40, aka Battle of the Eras, where she nearly reached the final, but lost in an elimination to Tori Deal. Fellow Massachusetts native Chris “CT” Tamburello, with whom Cara has a bond, was among the castmates.
Cara followed that up by returning for Vets and New Threats, which featured her friend CT again among fellow veteran competitors.
Season 41 also introduced a new group of rookies trying to make their mark on the game by outdoing many of the veterans in daily challenges, strategic gameplay, and eliminations.
In a recent episode, CT failed to perform adequately in a daily challenge involving climbing a rope ladder to a platform suspended above the water. Rookies quickly accused the five-time champ of intentionally throwing it to cost his rookie teammate safety from elimination.
Due to the rookies’ Episode 8 campaign, “Justice for Leka,” much of the cast wanted to oust CT from the game. In a recent episode recap rant, Cara called out the situation and several castmates as “unlikable.”
Cara Maria called out ‘CT slander’ in new rant
The Challenge 41 is now up to Episode 8, and Cara Maria is providing weekly recaps and reviews. She is no longer one of the cast members appearing in the televised episodes, having left earlier due to a personal matter. Cara revealed that her decision to leave occurred due to her mother’s declining health and death.
“Justice for Leka, or Justice for CT?” Cara asked in the introduction to her Instagram video.
“So CT’s on everybody’s mind right now, because downstairs we get Yeremi [Hykel] and [Leroy Garrett] talking about how CT was a legend who used to always be the first pick,” she said.
“Now [Leroy]’s like blown away. None of the girls want to be partners with [CT], they’d rather be partners with Leroy,” she recapped.
Cara then directed her attention to another of CT’s critics among the rookie cast members of Season 41.
“And Sydney [Segal] thinks that CT’s a liability. Honestly, all this CT slander, blasphemy! Zero respect for our OG on Mount Rushmore. I know we can’t rest on our records, but it’s clear that CT was embarrassed about his performance. He’s been trying to make up for it. He’s a big dude with a very sensitive soul, so this is very hard to watch,” Cara said.
Season 41 cast members tried to get rid of CT
“Another s****y take, they want CT gone. What in The Twilight Zone episode of The Challenge is this?” Cara asked.
Viewers saw CT enter the Episode 8 elimination against fellow veteran Derek Chavez. Unfortunately for Derek, it was a Pole Wrestle, one of the more physically demanding events in The Challenge, aside from Hall Brawl and Balls In.
Despite Derek’s resilience, the beast CT dominated the event and returned to the house, potentially with a renewed sense of purpose.
Cara’s recap rant follows a similar rant from former castmate Zach Nichols on The Zach Nichols Podcast, as he also called out CT’s critics.
Cara called several Season 41 castmates ‘unlikeable’ after seeing new episodes
During her rant, Cara brought up Sydney’s confessional remarks about CT. She mentioned how she initially liked Sydney when she met her. However, she’s now seeing another side of herself in the episodes.
“I was excited about Sydney in the beginning. I mean her interview with TJ threw me off, and I was a little nervous, but when I actually met her in person, I liked her. But every time the camera’s on, she kinda puts on this mean girl act, and it doesn’t feel authentic,” Cara said.
She said Sydney and Michaela Bradshaw “started on a real high” for her when Vets and New Threats started, adding, “The more time they pop on the screen, the more unlikable they’re getting.”
Cara also mentioned a conversation Nany Gonzalez and Michaela had in Episode 8, where they laughed at how none of the rookie guys wanted to be Olivia Kaiser’s partner. Cara speculated that’s due to guys being worried the vets would “sick the herd on them for being guilty by association.”
Both Sydney and Michaela are former Survivor competitors, known for their savvy and strategic approaches to the game. Other Survivor players in the MTV’s Vets and New Threats season include Dee Valladares and veteran Turbo “Turabi” Camkiran from Survivor Turkey.
The Challenge: Vets and New Threats airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on MTV.
