Chicago Fire spoilers: A look at returning cast, huge departure

Chicago Fire spoilers likely reveal some answers to that huge Season 14 cliffhanger.

News about many people signing new contracts has spoiled who might survive that huge warehouse fire.

Additionally, a huge exit has been announced, which could lead Chicago Fire in a completely new direction.

As previously reported by Tea on TV, the Season 14 finale ended with at least nine characters in peril.

Squad 3 was trapped inside with Mouch, and Truck 81 was caught in a fireball while descending a ladder.

Chicago Fire Season 15, Episode 1 will address what happened. Only read further if you want to learn some important spoilers.

Chicago Fire spoilers about Season 15

Taylor Kinney and Miranda Rae Mayo have reportedly signed new contracts. So Kelley Severide and Stella Kidd return for Chicago Fire Season 15.

But that’s not all. It was reported online that a slew of additional characters are also returning for Season 15. That includes Hanako Greensmith as Paramedic in Charge (PIC), Violet Mikami, David Eigenberg as Christopher Herrmann, Christian Stolte as Lieutenant Randall “Mouch” McHolland, Joe Miñoso as Firefighter Joe Cruz, Jocelyn Hudon as Paramedic Lyla Novak, and Brandon Larracuente as Firefighter Sal Vasquez.

Uh oh. That means no mention of Ballard, who Leroy S. Williams III plays. Maybe he was left off the list since he isn’t considered a primary character, but rather a fill-in as the main actors and actresses take weeks off from the show.

Two more big names are also missing. Firefighters Tony Ferraris (Anthony Ferraris) and Harold Capp (Randy Flagler) were trapped in that building. Should we be worried about them? Hopefully not. They bring most of the show’s weekly humor.

Maybe nobody dies? Chicago Fire has done this before. The writers get us worried, one or two characters get injured, and then everything goes back to normal.

The great news is that the show is indeed returning. Chicago Fire Season 15 should debut in September or October 2026.

Chicago Fire heads into new territory with a huge departure

Even if the full cast returns, a departure was announced.

Showrunner Andrew Newman has left the show after 14 seasons at the helm.

Co-executive producer Victor Teran takes her place.

“Working at Chicago Fire, with the absolute best cast and crew in the business, has been the highlight of my career,” Newman stated

“Like so many others, I was inspired to get into TV writing because of Dick [Wolf], so what a thrill it’s been to work with him and the amazing Wolf team of Peter Jankowski, Rebecca McGill and Anastasia Puglisi. I’m so grateful to them, Derek Haas and the NBC and Universal execs who have been so supportive of the show all along the way. After 14 years, you really do become a family and working with this group will always feel like home,” the former showrunner elaborated.

Will the show have a different tone or feel to it in the fall? We must wait and see.

Chicago Fire Season 15 on NBC schedule

As previously mentioned, the new season will arrive on NBC in fall 2026.

Previous episodes are streaming on Peacock.
