Kelly Ripa teases an exciting possible addition to her family

Kelly Ripa recently shared some great news on her show, LIVE with Kelly and Mark, which may mean her family is expanding.

The daytime TV host and her husband, Mark Consuelos, have three adult children: Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, all currently unmarried.

A recent LIVE host chat between Kelly and Mark had Kelly sharing some crucial details about expanding her family.

While the news was not about any of Kelly’s children getting engaged, it still managed to tug at the heartstrings of everyone who heard the details.

Last February, Kelly and Mark had to say goodbye to their beloved dog, Chewie, after a long 17-year life filled with cuddles and long dog walks.

The former All My Children star, who still mourns Chewie, revealed some exciting news on LIVE about a possible new addition to the Consuelos household.

Kelly Ripa tells Mark Consuelos, ‘You owe me’

Kelly and Mark showcased puppies and older dogs that needed homes all week on LIVE, and then they decided to see how their remaining dog, Lena, would react to a new family member.

One of the dog-themed segments on LIVE is available below.

“We almost adopted a dog. Almost,” Kelly said as she began to explain her plans to add another dog to her household. Kelly and Mark have one dog named Lena, an adopted Maltese/Shi Tzu mix.

Lena soothed Kelly and Mark after Chewie’s passing, but Kelly longs for another dog to love in her home.

She reminded Mark, “You owe me a dog.” Mark shared that while he wants a dog, he doesn’t think getting Lena used to another one is easy.

“It’s very difficult to introduce a new dog into the family,” Kelly admitted.

Kelly explained, “We are trying to socialize our dog, Lena,” and then shared that an attempt with an adoptable poodle did not go well with Lena.

The daytime hosts said the quest for a new puppy is “To be continued.”

Kelly is not in a hurry for grandchildren

Now that Kelly and Mark’s children are all out of college and ready for adult life, Kelly shared that she is not in a hurry for grandchildren.

When Michael Chiklis, of The Shield fame, came on and shared that he is a first-time grandpa, Kelly clarified that she wants her kids to put their plans for having children on hold for now.

In the clip below, Kelly said, “Calm down,” regarding her kids and dating.

If Kelly and Mark aren’t ready for grandchildren yet, an adopted shelter dog may be the best addition to their home.

LIVE with Kelly and Mark airs weekdays on ABC.
