Kelly Thiebaud is coming back to General Hospital.
It’s been two years since she was in the role of Britt Westbourne, but is that who she’ll be playing when she returns?
News of Kelly’s return to the ABC sudser broke on the heels of the disappointing news that Jonathan Jackson wrapped his run as Lucky Spencer.
Details about her return are being kept under wraps, except for revealing that she will begin airing in July.
The timing was perfect as July sweeps help kick things off for what’s to come in the fall.
Here’s what we think about Kelly’s return and who she’ll play.
Kelly Thiebaud is back
We are happy to have Kelly Thiebaud back on our screens, even if it won’t be as Britt Westbourne.
However, we suspect that she will return as Britt.
It isn’t out of the realm of possibilities that Kelly could return as a new character. General Hospital had Roger Howarth and Michael Easton play different characters.
Given where Britt was when she “died,” there is more to the story.
An exact date for her first appearance hasn’t been revealed, but Deadline confirmed that Kelly will return to Port Charles in some capacity.
Did Britt Westbourne really die?
While nothing is confirmed, we suspect Kelly Thiebaud will return as Britt Westbourne.
Cody (Josh Kelly) mentioned Britt and the pool incident when he came to town while talking to Molly (Kristen Vaganos) at the Metro Court pool.
General Hospital has a habit of dropping character names before they return.
Heather Webber (Alley Mills) caught Britt with the hook when she was parading around as the Hook Killer, and she died from the venom.
However, we suspect that since Liesl (Kathleen Gati) has been off-screen, she may have been working on bringing her daughter back to life. It wouldn’t be surprising at all.
Some General Hospital viewers were disappointed when Jason (Steve Burton) returned to find Britt had died.
There was a budding romance between the two. When Jason was lost when the tunnels collapsed, Britt grieved the loss. With Sam (Kelly Monaco) dead and Sasha’s (Sofia Mattsson) secret out in the open, it’s time for Jason to have another shot at love.
Should the General Hospital writers make Kelly a new character, it would take some getting used to. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed her chemistry with her co-stars while in the role, especially her friendship with Brad (Parry Shen).
July is a few weeks out, so the wait is almost up!
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
