Survivor 48 alum Eva Erickson is a PhD candidate at Brown University, where a shooting took place this past weekend.
Eva made a shocking revelation when she posted on social media that she had been on campus and had left the same building just minutes before the tragedy happened.
Brown University President Christina Paxson stated that the shooting happened around 4 p.m. ET on December 13 at the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building in an economics class. Two students were killed, and nine other students were injured during the attack.
Brown students Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov were killed on Saturday when someone dressed in black opened fire in a lecture hall
Eva appeared on the Survivor 48 cast
As many Survivor fans will remember, Eva was a fun part of the Survivor 48 cast. She was in a strong duo with Joe Hunter, and their bond lasted long after they left Fiji.
Kyle Fraser was crowned the Survivor 48 winner, with Eva finishing as the runner-up, and Joe becoming the second runner-up. The season also featured Kamilla Karthigesu as a player.
Now, the Survivor 50 cast list includes Kyle, Joe, and Kamilla. That new season will take CBS by storm during the upcoming winter and spring.
Eva updates her followers on the Brown shooting
“Update on the situation at Brown. I feel very lucky to have left my office when I did. Thank you for checking in on my safety. Please pray for the families of the victims 🤍,” Eva Erickson captioned an Instagram post.
“A lot of people have been super worried about what’s going on on the Brown campus, so since I’m currently on the Brown campus right now, I thought that I would give an update,” Eva began her video.
Eva then explained how she was in a building that was on lockdown following the shooting, and how she had been in the very building where the incident took place just minutes after she left it.
She stated that her office was in the building where the shooting happened, and that she was “very lucky” to have been unproductive at work that day, because it led to her leaving early.
Eva stated that she “randomly” decided to go to the gym, which she says is something she “never” does. She goes on to state that she left the building less than five minutes before the shooter came in.
Below is Eva’s full video. She is clearly shaken up by what has happened. She is telling her story in real time as she and other students remained in lockdown on December 13.
“Just no words. I’m so so glad you’re safe ♥️,” Kyle Fraser wrote when he saw her post.
Another update from Survivor alum Eva Erickson
The next day, Eva provided another update on the “active shooter situation” at Brown.
“Update from the aftermath of the Brown University campus shooting last night. I, just like everyone else at Brown, am processing a lot of emotions relating to the situation. I hope this gives you a window into what we are experiencing. This can’t keep happening to our students,” she captioned the new post.
“I’m so glad you’re safe Eva. Sending you & the entire Brown University community love, prayers, and strength. I agree with you 1000%, this cannot keep happening,” noted Big Brother alum Britni D’Angelo.
“So so glad you’re safe ♥️,” echoed Kyle.
For this post, Eva updated everyone on her situation and what happened with the lockdown.
