Survivor fans share why they are upset with the three-tribe format

The new Survivor season started well with fans. It was a throwback to older seasons, with two tribes and Exile Island returning.

But the fourth episode ruined it for many viewers. Yes, this is the new “Open Era” of Survivor, where anything can happen. But returning to three tribes this early was a frustrating endeavor for fans.

Some intriguing gameplay was happening when Survivor 51 had only two tribes. But the Episode 4 Tribe Swap moved everything in a new direction.

Hopefully, the early-season momentum will be resurrected, but many fans are pretty upset about the return to three tribes.

Let’s get into it.

Survivor fans frustrated by the return to three tribes on Season 51

“Three tribes really killed the vibe huh #Survivor #Survivor51,” one fan wrote about the new episode.

“Survivor 51 going from two tribes to three tribes just to lose all its momentum #survivor51,” someone else posted.

“Survivor started out SO GOOD and now we swap to three tribes and have the most snoozefest tribal of all time #survivor51 waste of my night!!!! Loser @JeffProbst just waiting for TAR to be on at this point,” another fan wrote.

One fan got really upset in their post.

“episode is a snoozefest in comparison to the last three which were top tier of the last decade. never do three tribes again and im dead f****** a**. ruining all the momentum seriously. #Survivor,” they wrote.

Many fans are frustrated with Jeff Probst and the production team.

“Jeff and production are so in love with three tribes. They made the swap tribes pose like they were the starting tribes. Like this has never happened in the history of Survivor to get a picture like this of a swapped tribe. #Survivor51,” noted another viewer.

Will they stay with three tribes for a while? Or will Survivor 51 shake things up again in the next episode?

New episodes air Wednesdays at 8/7c on CBS. Previous episodes are streaming on Paramount+.
