Survivor 51 has finished filming

Survivor 51 is done. Not to be confused with Survivor 50 (In the Hands of the Fans).

Filming for the next season was recently completed. And just in time. Now they can easily show some footage soon.

Survivor 51 introduces a new group of castaways, even though they filmed in the same location (Fiji).

While Season 50 has been airing on Wednesday nights, Jeff Probst and his crew were already back to work.

Each year, they film two seasons in Fiji around this time, giving the team lots of time to edit episodes for the following television season.

Changes are coming with the Survivor 51 cast

As previously reported by Tea on TV, the new season features a change that fans have been begging for.

The new season begins with only two tribes. This is a departure from the New Era seasons that have begun with three tribes.

And that’s not all. They are going with 20 people instead of the regular 18. Season 50 showed that having 20 people (they started with 24) could lead to some interesting numbers for challenges and such.

So, the Survivor 51 cast has 20 people split up between two tribes. This is where fans can joke that it might only last for a few episodes before they shake things up and move to three tribes. Stay tuned to find out.

But this format shift is a good thing. It should help breathe some fresh air into the reality competition franchise as it enters another new era.

When is the Survivor 51 start date?

The new season will likely arrive at the end of September 2026. Wednesday, September 23 or 30 looks good on the calendar.

The new season will serve as a lead-in to fresh installments of The Amazing Race. Phil Keoghan returns with a new group of racers this fall at 9:30/8:30c on Wednesdays.

After that, Survivor 52 will debut in late winter or early spring. There are many online rumors about Season 52, including a possible theme with returners. Stay tuned on that front.

Until then, everyone can enjoy viewing previous seasons on Paramount+.
