Chicago Fire has an annoying storyline that needs wrapped up

Ok, Chicago Fire writers. It’s time to cut off one particular storyline. Especially as the season finale approaches.

Yes, we get it. Having love triangles can be dramatic and fun. But the latest one has been run into the ground.

Of course, we are referencing the drama between Lizzy Lovak (played by Jocelyn Hudon) and Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), and which paramedic will get to date Firefighter Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente).

Will they? Won’t they? Who will end up together? We might stop caring soon.

What is going on with Novak, Mikami, and Vasquez?

Sal Vasquez is the newest hot firefighter at Firehouse 51. Another guy with a troubled past, he has caught the eye of Lizzy Novak and Violet Mikami.

Lizzy and Sal appeared to be flirting first, so Violet took a backseat. But then Lizzy thought Violet was interested, so she put up a cold shoulder to Sal and began dating Dr. John Frost (Darren Barnet) from Chicago Med.

Then, Violet and Sal hooked up because Violet thought the door was open. But after her fling with Frost, Lizzy seemed interested in Sal again. Only Lizzy couldn’t figure out why Sal was now disinterested. This led Violet to back off from Sal.

Meanwhile, Violet and Lizzy keep each other in the dark about the fact that they really like Sal. And all of this has become too much for Chicago Fire viewers. The forced tension in the writing is distracting from everything else.

Yes, it’s likely heading toward something—probably some hurt feelings. But this trope is getting worn out on the show.

Is the fake love triangle a big spoiler for Chicago Fire?

Are the writers being non-committal to the relationship storylines because Sal Vasquez is leaving Firehouse 51? Is he ready to be a cop? That has already been teased, and it would explain why the fake relationship storyline keeps dragging out.

Maybe a Sam Carver return is on the horizon? Actor Jake Lockett was good on the show. And Carver was good with Violet. We may have to wait and see.

Novak seemed good with Frost. But a cross-show romance is hard to keep up. The One Chicago writers have done it well with Mouch (Christian Stolte) and Trudy Platt (Amy Morton), but it means we rarely see them together on screen.

Stay tuned to find out what happens next. Here’s the tentative episode schedule for Chicago Fire.

One Chicago news

NBC has already ordered Chicago Fire Season 15 for next year. Med, Fire, and P.D. are coming back!

Chicago Fire will also have a new chief, and here is where you know him from. His big debut comes on the April 1 episode, and there may be drama with Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney).

As a reminder, the city fired Chief Dom Pascal. Dermot Mulroney had to step away to work on his other show (The Hunting Wives). It’s unclear if he will ever return.

Here’s some early news about the Chicago P.D. season finale. It’s coming up soon!
