Some people would say you’d have to be desperate to sign up to marry a stranger.
It sounds harsh, but there might be some truth to that; just ask Married at First Sight alum Jamie Otis.
Things worked out well for the Season 1 star, who was matched with husband Doug Hehner in the first-ever installment of the show.
Jamie recently reflected on her decision to join the show, admitting that she might have been “desperate” at the time.
Either way, it certainly worked out in her favor.
11 years and four kids later, Doug and Jamie are the longest-running couple in the franchise.

Several MAFS alums celebrated anniversaries over the past few weeks, including Nicole and Chris Thielk as well as Amani and Woody Randall.
However, MAFS’s very first and longest-lasting success story, Doug and Jamie, also toasted 11 years.
The pair bravely signed up for the show’s first season, without much of a clue what they were getting into.
Jamie acknowledged the moment in an Instagram post.
“11 years ago we got married as complete strangers on national TV… yep, people thought we were nuts 😅,” she wrote.
The MAFS star makes a surprising admission
In the lengthy post, Jamie shared her reasons for joining the show, admitting that she was just not looking for love.
“I wanted connection, stability, and a real family,” she explained.
Since Jamie wasn’t having any luck on her own, she decided to let the MAFS experts find her the perfect match.
“Desperate? Maybe😆,” confessed the mom of four.
Call it what you will, but Jamie Otis took the plunge and decided to marry a stranger.
As we know, she had an absolute meltdown after tying the knot, but she stuck it out during the eight-week experiment.
The couple has admittedly had their ups and downs over the years, but 11 years later, they are still making their marriage work.
Married at First Sight is currently on hiatus.
