Survivor: The Movie? Jeff Probst is ready to take that step. But it’s not exactly what people were expecting.
The Survivor host confirmed that the show has teamed up with Paramount Animation on a new project.
Will fans show up to support this new format? Has the show officially “jumped the shark” with this announcement?
Let’s get into it.
Jeff Probst makes a surprising Survivor announcement
“I’m so excited to be teaming up with Paramount Animation to bring you Survivor like you’ve never seen it before…in the animal kingdom!” Jeff captioned a new Instagram video.
“This will be an all-out comedy with animals competing for the chance to be crowned the sole Survivor. Let’s go!!!! 🔥,” he elaborated.
The video below shows an excited Jeff (likely filmed in Fiji) announcing the new movie.
Jeff confirms that the movie will still include big personalities, funny characters, surprising alliances, heart, and competition chaos.
He describes it as an animated comedy, happening in the animal kingdom. Jeff is excited for people to “meet this new tribe” and see what they can do with the new environment.
Jeff knows how to sell the product, and he does a good job sharing his excitement.
“As nature intended… the snake will eat the rat,” joked alum Adam Klein.
“Jeff the…eagle? prairie dog? Bear??” commented Ozzy Lusth.
“My performance on the balance beam may have been an inspiration for one of the characters,” wrote Tiffany Seely.
We at Tea on TV can’t wait to hear who has been selected to voice the characters.
“Listen @jeffprobst . Throw me on a island with the sea krait and his boys, and ill make sure the the only med evac of the season is gonna be the seakrait,” joked Jake Latimer.
“I need an animal to stutter & be loosely based on my aggressive game play!! He has to snore, be sassy, and obviously make buckets!” Mitch Guerra wrote.
Could the producers turn to alums as the voices? Indeed, that could be confusing. It could also taint characters intended to be different than past players we have seen.
Additional details about the upcoming movie
“Set on a remote and mystical island, animals from all around the globe compete for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be crowned the Sole Survivor,” reads the official movie synopsis.
Also, we don’t know when the movie will be released. It could be a while. Animated films aren’t something they can whip together overnight. Stay tuned!
