Who replaces the bosun on Below Deck Season 12?

Captain Kerry Titheradge gave Bosun Caio Poltronieri his walking papers on Below Deck Season 12.

The firing was very much deserved. Caio did a lackluster job at best.

Now, Below Deck fans are wondering who will take over the bosun role. After all, there’s still plenty of Season 12 to play out.

We know for sure Ben Willoughby won’t be returning. Ben has nothing but shade for Below Deck and Captain Kerry.

Deckhand Jess Theron’s name was thrown in the ring by one fan on X (formerly Twitter).

“Make Jess bosun? #BelowDeck,” read the X.

Jess took on Caio when he wasn’t giving the deck team proper breaks, winning her points with Below Deck fans. Honestly, she would be the easiest transition since she’s already on the yacht and has a good rapport with Deckhands Kyle Stillie and Damo Yorg.

Captain Kerry has faith in her, too, or he would have never asked her opinion on Caio.

If Jess gets promoted, then a new deckhand will join the team. At this point in the season, it’s probably easier to replace a deckhand than a bosun.

Kyle could be a contender based on his yachting experience, but we all know it’s a job he doesn’t want. The deckhand isn’t here to be a boss. Instead, he wants to do his thing, and his thing isn’t always work-focused.

Damo is too green to take on the bosun role. That means if Jess isn’t promoted, someone new will be brought in for the position.

The preview for the next episode doesn’t give any hints about who will replace Caio.

It’s safe to assume that if Jess isn’t the new bosun, the person coming in likely won’t be a returning Below Deck crew member.

Right now, there are four crew members from Below Deck Season 11 on Below Deck Season 12. Adding another seems a bit much and very un-Below Deck-like.

Who do you think should replace Caio? Is Jess a good choice or not?
