Johnny Bananas has become one of the more polarizing characters in reality television, thanks to some of his memorable moments on The Challenge.
Fans just saw him feuding with castmates Devin Walker and his showmance, Michele Fitzgerald, on MTV’s Battle of the Eras season.
That spilled over to him targeting Devin, Michele, and then Michele’s trio of friends, the Ladies of Leisure.
Bananas is entering a new era with Season 41. He already has one rookie castmate who dislikes him on the upcoming season. Now he’s getting some hate from someone who is a blast from his past.
The Real World: Key West star received some shade from a former castmate amid Bananas’ trip overseas with other castmates.
And the shade arrives right as we’re on the verge of seeing some new OGs potentially appear in The Challenge: All Stars 6.
Former Challenge winner shades Bananas
Most diehard fans of The Challenge are pretty familiar with moments like the Bananas backpack, featuring CT Tamburello, and that infamous Rivals III moment, featuring Sarah Rice.
In the latter incident, Sarah and Bananas teamed up, despite being rivals. During their previous season, Sarah, who was on decent terms with Bananas and her partner, Jordan Wiseley, opted to send Bananas and his partner, Nany Gonzalez, into elimination.
Bananas felt betrayed by that moment, as it potentially cost him a trip to the final and a big win on the show. So he unleashed his wrath on Sarah after they won Rivals III together, by using a final twist to keep all the prize money and leave Sarah penniless.
Sarah has never forgotten about that surprising moment. She occasionally posts on social media to blast her former castmate or throw shade.
Earlier this week, she uploaded a screenshot of Bananas from a Challenge Mania event with castmates, including Mark Long. In the photo, Bananas is wearing a sleeveless t-shirt, several necklaces, and ripped jeans. It’s unclear what his shirt says, but it has a message written in cursive.
“Imagine being 42 and thinking this look is where it’s at,” Sarah wrote on her IG Story slide.
Sara previously appeared in a video that castmate Mark shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, where she spoke to fans about returning for The Challenge: All Stars 6.
The details of who’s in the spinoff cast have yet to arrive. Some Vevmo forum speculation spotlights a lot of “up in the air” castmates who could participate, and they’ll start filming in the coming months.
Sarah may be seeking to gain publicity and engagement with fans ahead of a potential appearance. It’s also possible she’ll just never stop throwing shade at Bananas whenever she can.
Bananas met up with several other former rivals from The Challenge
Meanwhile, Bananas was on a fancy trip overseas to Italy. On his Instagram, he shared a curious photo of himself enjoying wine with former castmates Wes Bergmann and Nelson Thomas. Wes also shared pictures on his social media, including X.
Surprisingly, Devin Walker is also pictured at the table, suggesting that the drama between him and Bananas on Season 40 didn’t carry on past the reunion. Or, at the very least, they’re co-existing for a special event.
They all went to Italy to attend a wedding of another former castmate. A series of photos Wes posted features Kyle Christie.
Wes’s X post indicates he’s enjoying his trip to Rome and “survived a nine-hour bar crawl with all of Kyle’s friends and family.”
“But I didn’t come here for carbs or compliments. I came here with a purpose: to figure out what on earth Vicky sees in Kyle. No luck yet. But I’m giving it time… and wine,” Wes wrote in his message.
Kyle just got married again for reality TV
Fans haven’t seen Kyle, Wes, or Nelson on MTV’s The Challenge for several seasons. Wes retired on The Challenge: USA 2, while Nelson had that life-changing car wreck several years ago.
And Kyle is seemingly busy with MTV UK projects, including Geordie Shore, as well as getting married to Vicky Turner and raising a baby son.
While Kyle officially tied the knot last year, reports surfaced in April that a lavish wedding in Rome would be filmed for Geordie Shore, which is why The Challenge stars were visiting.
It’s unclear if Bananas, Wes, Devin, and Nelson will guest star in an episode or two or have no involvement in the show’s final cuts.
As mentioned, Bananas is featured in The Challenge’s upcoming 41st season, Vets and New Threats. He’ll have to work with a rookie partner to survive the daily challenges and eliminations, if he wants to have another shot at a final.
